Hi! Welcome to "Life With Karen" my happy little blog about Myself, my lovely wife Karen, our dog Plumpudding and our two irascable cats, Franny and Boo. About now, if you are still with me, you might well be wondering why I call this Blog "Life With Karen?"
Karen is a very special person, and I say this, not because she is my wife and I love her, but because she is a hero. She is afflicted with schizophrenia. This is a debilitating mental illness that when she was a late teen, ripped her out of her optimistic world of dreams of tomorrow, and plunged her into a nightmare of institutionalization and psychosis.
There is no cure for schizophrenia. It never goes away, and "recovery" (as the Mental Health Community likes to dangle out like a carrot) is mostly a myth. This is a story about how this remarkable and loving woman 'saved the life' of a normal man whose own life had taken a sideways turn off the track of normalacy, and brought him back to where he is now...blogging happily away...with you.
